Teen Television Drama Series Loved By All
Teenage dramas run the gambit from shows that are must-see TV for teen girls (and boys!) eager to keep up with the latest fashions, slang and party etiquette to programs that are stolen pleasures for adults waxing nostalgic for what they remember rightly or wrongly as the simpler pleasures of their youth. But there are some television drama series that are teen television drama series loved by all. Here are four of our guiltiest pleasures among the American television seriess that have shone their spotlight on teenage life:
The O.C.
Orange County was once a bastion of family values but these days it’s all about palatial housing developments, glittering Gallerias, and substance abuse. It’s a particularly hard place to be an outsider as Ryan Atwood and Seth Cohen discover in this drama television series. Welcome to the O.C, bitch. The OC The Complete Series was released as a television series DVD in 2007, and individual episodes are available for streaming on Internet Television through Hulu.
My So-Called Life
The critics loved it. Teens loved it. But it never built a big enough audience outside that demographic. ABC yanked the television series after one season. Still it made stars out of its leads, Claire Danes and Jared Leto, and is credited as one of the first television drama series to look realistically at teen alcoholism, homophobia and homelessness. My So-Called Life: The Complete Series has been released as a television series DVD and is available as Internet Television form Hulu.
One Tree Hill
Cain and Abel set in small town America. Cain is popular, affluent Nathan Scott, the star of his high school basketball team; Abel is brooding loner Lucas Scott, a talented pickup player. Sooner or later they’re going to clash on the court. And guess who gets all the girls? Seasons One through Six of One Tree Hill have each been released as a television series DVD.
Gossip Girl
Based on the popular (and sexually explicit) young adult series of the same name by Cecily von Ziegesar, this television drama series focuses on the lives of a group of ultra-rich Manhattan socialites and the kids drawn into their orbits. Seasons 1 and two have been released as a television series DVD.
