Never before have television shows been so readily available, and FiOS television services include so much more than just offering access to thousands of network and cable channel television shows and movies. FiOS technology involves the provision of bundled television, internet and telephone services through a fiber optic communications network rather than through the traditional copper cabling infrastructure. FiOS subscribers can choose exactly which of the three services they would like to subscribe to and, as at 2009, over 2 million people in America had subscribed to FiOS television. There are, however, some areas where the service is not yet available as the fiber optic network has not yet been installed. FiOS technology is said to be greatly superior to the copper cabling infrastructure used by traditional cable channel television networks.

The standard FiOS television package does not come with automatic access to all television channels, and access to certain HD channels and television shows are usually offered as an upgrade to the standard FiOS deal. Exactly which channels and television shows are available to each FiOS household also depends on what area the subscriber is located in.

Those FiOS television deals that are available in New York, for instance, consist of Prime HD, Extreme HD and Ultimate HD. Hundreds of channels are available as part of each of these deals, and the channels on offer range from television news channels and sports show television channels to arts and entertainment channels. Both network and cable channels are available, including the cable news channels, as are dedicated music channels.

There isn’t one television show that wouldn’t look better when seen with the aid of the fiber optics technology as the FiOS technicians are able to monitor the service so that they can actually correct potential problems before these are detected by the subscribers. The phrase “television tv” can be compared to “fiber optic services FiOS”, but it is also interesting to note that “fios” is the Gaelic word for knowledge, which is quite fitting for a service that will bring unlimited knowledge and entertainment to everyone who subscribes to it.
