The amazing type of success that reality programming like The Real Housewives of New Jersey generates has left television executives racing to produce more of these types of experiences which viewers crave. On any given night, there are the drama-filled shows like the wildly popular Real Housewives, which draw in the viewers, inviting them into their conflicted lives. The talent competitions encourage fan loyalty until the bitter end. But one must not forget the successful reality show, Survivor, where the physically and mentally mighty leave their audiences breathless.
Drama Reality Shows – Although one could suggest all reality TV has drama; there are programs that truly define this category. Individuals who star in these shows have no prize awaiting them. Their motives are known only to these privileged few whose every move is documented at least for a little while. The viewers of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Jersey Shore, The Hills, and The Real World get a peek inside the lives of strangers.
Talent Competition Reality Shows – In order to make the cut for these shows, contestants must be gifted in a particular category. Popular shows such as American Idol, Project Runway, and Dancing with the Stars have mastered the art of choosing just the right personalities which become the topic of conversation around the water cooler. Although well fed, the same can be said for the contestants on The Bachelor. By the end of the season, one can only hope that the elimination is swift and painless.
Once all options are exhausted by networks producers in reality television, it would be no surprise to see the winner of Project Runway proudly competing as The Bachelor only to appear with a rose grasping sweetheart on next season’s Dancing with the Stars!
