For the average reality television watcher that loves drama and watching outrageous young people live their lives, the Jersey Shore is an excellent television option.
The Jersey Shore, which first aired on MTV in 2009, is the newest phenomenon on reality television, the show seems to follow the same programming style as The Real World, except in meshes in a little bit of the Real Housewives of New Jersey as all of the cast are from the New Jersey.
While reality TV is nothing new, The Jersey Shore seems to take drama to a whole new level. While there is always plenty of excitement in talent based reality shows such as American Idol and Survivor and in dating shows, such as The Bachelor, the Jersey Shore offers viewers so much more. While each episode only takes an hour, there seems to be an eternity worth of dram filled in the short time slot.
While many people may still prefer the calmer reality shows, including Project Runway and Dancing with the Stars, there is no doubt that the characters are becoming household names and gaining national fame. Like characters from similar shows, like The Hills, the cast of Jersey Shore is beginning to find themselves on other realtiy programs.
One of the most popular cast mates of the Jersey Shore is Michael Sorrentino, who is best known by his outrageous outgoing personality and his self-proclaimed nickname, which is “The Situation.” Sorrentino will soon be competing on a much more global scale as he competes against other reality stars, athletes, and actors on the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars.
Like Sorrentino, the other cast mates are bound to find themselves on the small screen in other reality shows. It would not be too much of a stretch of the imagination to see Nicole Polizi on Project Runway or Jenni Farley on The Real Housewives of New Jersey. Regardless of where the cast of the Jersey Shore takes their careers, each one has left their mark on television which is sure to be used as new reality television shows are produced going forward.
