Big Brother One Of The Most Popular Reality Tv Shows
After seeing the success of Survivor, the CBS network quickly realized that viewers had a thirst for seeing how complete strangers interact with one another. With that in mind, the concept of Big Brother was born. Each season approximately 12 – 14 men and women are left inside the Big Brother house there is no television, no radio, and no contact with the outside world.
Called ‘houseguests’ these individuals must quickly learn how to work together to form alliances to survive a summer of competitions, eliminations, and betrayal. As with other reality television shows such as The Real World , The Bachelor , Real Housewives of New Jersey , The Hills , Project Runway , and Jersey Shore , there is a substantial amount of backstabbing, cat fights, and sultry sex between the cast members, making for the ultimate reality tv experience. Other similarities between Big Brother and shows such as Jersey Shore, The Real World, and The Hills, is the abundance of tanned, hard-bodied men and women that enjoy showing off their physiques.
Unlike competition style reality tv shows like Dancing With The Stars , American Idol , Project Runway , and The Bachelor , Big Brother contesants are not seeking out a title or contract prize. Instead, they are all battling for a spot in the ‘Final 2′, which similar to Survivor , is where the other eliminated contestants must choose the winner of the season. First prize for the ‘Final 2′ is a whopping $ 500,000, where second prize is much smaller amount of $ 50,000.
To date, there have been a total of twelve seasons and one ‘All Star’ season of the Big Brother reality television show, and it shows no signs of stopping.
