Watch Movies Online

Movies are America’s favorite entertainment. But we lead busy lives, and there isn’t always time to hit the Cineplex or the video store. Sure, there’s Netflix – but what if you aren’t at home to check the mailbox? You want your movie fix and you want it now! And you can have it with a high speed Internet connection. Here are some great sites to watch movies online.

Free Movies

There are lots of websites that allow you to watch Free Movies in high quality, full length free movies online. The best are Hulu and Surf the Channel. But did you know that both Google and the venerable Internet Movie Database can help you watch a movie online?

Hulu: www.hulu.com

Although best known as the site that brings your favorite TV shows to your computer, Hulu also has an impressive library of films. You can search for what you want to see either by the name of the film or the actors who star in it. Hulu also gives you the option of watching the entire movie or just your favorite clips.

Surf the Channel: www.surfthechannel.com

Surf the Channel is actually a search engine customized for video search. It knows where to look when you don’t – in the digital libraries attached to the dozens of movie studios with online presences.

Google

The Google search engine can also be customized to look for videos. If you want to find a feature length film, simply choose the “longer than 20 minutes” option on the drop-down menu.

Pay-Per-View Movies

Both Netflix and Blockbuster offer video on demand through their respective websites. For the most part these offerings are not the hottest first-run theatrical releases but rather films recently made available to the home market, like the ones you might watch in a hotel room.

Blockbuster On Demand: http://www.blockbuster.com/download

You don’t have to be a member to access Blockbuster’s streaming services, prices start at $2.99 per title. You do have to have either a Samsung TV or a Samsung Blu-ray player, and the devices must be activated according to instructions available on the Blockbuster site. You are allowed to watch the film as many times as you like within a twenty-four hour period, and you are allowed to store a rental for up to 30 days.

Netflix: http://www.netflix.com/

Netflix requires a membership. Your upfront cost will be $8.99 per month. But for your money you get the ability to TV shows and movies (including some first run) on your Mac, PC or television (if it’s enabled with a Netflix-ready device.) You can also rent DVD’s delivered to you by mail if that’s your preference.
