At Saturday night’s Directors Guild of America Awards in Los Angeles, all eyes were on the table where Brad Pitt sat with his partner, Angelina Jolie. It was the first public appearance the superstar lovers had made together since rumors began to circulate early last week that the two had secretly consulted a lawyer about divvying up their children and $330 million estate in preparation for a separation.
“They look like they are having a fun time,” and onlooker told People.com. “It’s definitely a date.”
An unnamed source close to the hunky actor and his glamorous consort confirms that while Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie did indeed meet with a lawyer last week, no breakup is imminent. “They aren’t married, so they need to protect their children and property in case there’s a rift in the future,” the insider told the New York Daily News.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have been a media sensation since they first became a couple, shortly after they starred together in the movie “Mr. and Mrs. Smith.” Paparazzi follow their every move, and photographs snapped of the lovers have been known to command as much as one million dollars apiece. At the Saturday night gala Angelina Jolie looked ravishing in a gray, single-shoulder Elie Saab gown and Brad Pitt was very attentive. While there were no wild displays of inappropriately public affection, the handsome actor pulled his lady love’s chair out and touched her arm and back often as they talked with director Quentin Tarentino. (Tarentino was one of the night’s nominees for “Inglorious Basterds” which Pitt starred in. You won’t find the movie on any list of Free Movie Downloads, at least not yet.) Onlookers agreed: they seemed like any other couple enjoying each other’s company. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie looked like a couple in love, not like a couple about to say goodbye.
