If you’re unwilling to trust strangers on the internet, there are several books published annually that grade restaurants on ambiance, food, service, and price. If you live in one of the major urban areas that are covered by these books, they are a very good alternative. Although, since they are only updated annually, they tend to be slightly out of date compared to internet sites that can be constantly updated.
Of course, there is always the tried and true method of asking your friends, loved ones, and colleagues for a restaurant recommendation. If you have a friend whom you know loves quality Italian food, they may be your best resource for finding the best quality Italian restaurant. Just keep in mind that people’s opinions about what constitutes quality Italian food or even what constitutes reasonable prices can vary greatly.
