Find Everything You Need from Fishing Boats to Bait

Fishing takes a lot of equipment if you’re going to do it right. Fishing tackle for carp fishing looks a lot different than tackle designed for sea fishing. Fishing boats come in hundreds of makes and models and selecting one that will be right for you is tough. If you decide to try fishing sports that are a little different than the norm, such as fly fishing or noodling for catfish, your equipment will look even more different.

Anglers love their sport as much as those involved in big game hunting, taxidermy and white tail hunting. Fortunately, fishing equipment is available for those who need it and sometimes at a good price.

Here’s where you’ll find everything you need for your next fishing excursion.

Bait and tackle stores. The traditionally best spot to shop for fishing equipment is the local bait shop. You’ll be able to pick up everything from bobbers to boats and get some solid advice on how to use it as well.

Catalog orders. A few bait and tackle dealers have made it big by gaining customer loyalty through good product selection, tremendous customer service and great prices. The selection of fishing tackle is typically much greater than in the neighborhood shop.

Garage sales. Some real bargains can be found here. Anglers that have put up the rod and reel for the last time occasionally all but give expensive equipment away to the first person who recognizes the value of what is being offered.

Classified ads. Newspapers, regional classified sections and magazine want ads include larger items of fishing equipment such as boats and trailers. Big ticket items hit the classified section and if they’re reasonably priced they are quickly snatched up by eager buyers. Local classified sections of newspapers also carry smaller fishing tackle items such as rods, reels, tackle boxes loaded with baits, and items that are specifically geared towards deep sea fishing, carp fishing, fly fishing and other specialties

Auctions. The recent tough economy has unfortunately put a lot of people in a bad financial situation. Auctions of property often include fishing tackle that can be bought inexpensively.

Estate sales. Sometimes an estate sale includes fishing tackle that is a real find to the budget-minded fisherman. People managing estates are generally more interested in selling off property than in making a lot of money doing it. There are opportunities for fishing equipment ranging from hooks and sinkers to boats and electronics.
