Scarlett Johansson is one of the most decorated actresses in Hollywood and is destined to be one of the greatest leading ladies of our time and comparable to Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek and Jennifer Anniston. With her recent appearance as Natasha Romanoff in Iron Man II, Scarlett Johansson has also ventured into the land of cult celebrities inhabited by crowd favorites as Robert Patinson and Kristen Stewart.
It seems that no young actress has won so many different awards as Scarlett Johansson – except maybe Lindsay Lohan – and accolades collected to date include the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role and the Toronto Film Critics Association Award for Best Supporting Actress.
Scarlett Johansson began her film career in 1994 when she won a supporting role in the film North, and she has since gone on to appear in such blockbusters as He’s Just Not That Into You, which also starred Jennifer Anniston, and Marvel’s Iron Man II. Her portrayal of Natasha Romanoff in the latter film – whose affiliation with S.H.I.E.L.D. and The Avengers is well known within the Marvel universe – could, furthermore, have opened the door to her re-appearing as the same character in more Marvel movies rather like the Twilight movie franchise has offered repeat performances to Kristen Stewart, Robert Patinson and Taylor Lautner.
Like Salma Hayek and Jaden Smith, Scarlett Johansson is one of a few acting celebrities who are also branching out into the world of music. Johansson almost won the coveted role of Maria in the West End revival of The Sound of Music, and she has also appeared in at least one award winning music video. Established music stars like Christina Aguilera and Miley Cyrus had better be prepared to move aside if Scarlett Johansson moves into the world of music with even half the talent that she has brought to the big screen.
Scarlett Johansson has only recently transitioned from adolescent to adult roles, but, now that she is firmly established as a major action star, bigger names like Angelina Jolie, Megan Fox and Pamela Anderson had better be aware of the competition that is about to come their way. Scarlett Johansson combines a Naomi Watts-like blonde beauty with an Angelina Jolie-like screen presence and a Christina Aguilera-like voice, so it’s no wonder that she’s got as far as she has in such a short time.
