Young Jaden Smith has been getting a lot of attention lately and is rapidly gaining a following that could put him in the same circles as established celebrities like Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Aniston and Lindsay Lohan. Also, like, Miley Cyrus, Jaden Smith has a famous father, and, like Kristen Stewart and Robert Patinson, Smith has attached himself to a blockbuster series: The Karate Kid.
Just as Robert Patinson and Kristen Stewart will be forever associated with the Team Jacob vs Team Edward media circus that is the Twilight film franchise, Jaden Smith will be always be the 21st century’s Karate Kid. Only time will tell, however, whether Jaden will continue to be as popular as he is now or whether he will fade into obscurity like many other childhood celebrities.
Miley Cyrus has her famous daddy, Billy Ray, and Jaden Smith has two of the most spotlighted celebrities in showbiz for parents: Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith. As Jaden’s success to date has shown, his parents have taught him his craft well, and his debut performance in The Pursuit of Happyness saw him steal screen time from his famous father. This film debuted at the North American box office’s #1 spot, which puts it right up there with Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, which starred Megan Fox, Iron Man 2, which was a vehicle for Scarlett Johansson, and Mr and Mrs Smith, which presented both Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt for the viewers’ pleasure.
Jaden Smith‘s further box office successes include the 2008 remake of the science-fiction classic The Day the Earth Stood Still, and he isn’t the only Hollywood jet-setter to ever appear in remakes of old classics. Lindsay Lohan successfully pulled of this trick in the remake of Freaky Friday, as did Salma Hayek when she starred in the 1997 movie The Hunchback, one of the many Hunchback of Notre Dame film adaptations.
Jaden Smith has, however, yet to make an impact on television, and this is one of the things that sets him apart from established television stars like Jennifer Anniston and Pamela Anderson. Also like Jennifer Anniston, Pamela Anderson and Megan Fox, however, his fame is still growing, and he has also recently stepped onto the pop music stage, which could make him as popular as other young singers like Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and Christina Aguilera.
